Hello Mooretown Rancheria Housing Community, my name is Debbie Edwards, I serve as the Youth/Events Coordinator for the Tribe. I am pleased to share our upcoming 2026 community events. Please note that some of our events are specifically geared toward our Housing Community, as these programs are supported through grant funding provided by NCIHA. Our Easter Picnic at the Log Cabin will be held on March 28th. Summer Youth Work Program informational meeting will be April 15th where applications will be available at that time, with a submission deadline of May 11th. Our Back-2-School Backpack Giveaway is scheduled for August 5th, followed by our Halloween Trunk or Treat on October 30th. In December (date to be determined), we will host a Breakfast with Santa celebration this year.
In addition, our Afterschool Youth Program continues to provide one hour of structured homework and study time along with a daily snack. While I have introduced a somewhat traditional activity such as beading and cleaning of pine nuts to our youth, participation has been limited so far. Currently, slime-making remains one of the most requested activities and our youth consistently show incredible creativity in drawing and painting projects.
